My Research Programme
My research takes place mostly within the area most commonly referred to as philosophy of psychology. This is sometimes conflated with `philosophical (or theoretical) psychology’. The approach I take follows from Wittgenstein’s voluminous remarks on psychology and psychological concepts. It has been characterised as an `anthropological’ approach and I cannot find too much fault with this characterisation. My main point of departure from contemporary cognitive science is with respect to the conception of normativity that is implicit in their characterisations of `this mind’ and `mental conceptualisation.’
I worry about other things as well; primarily, miliary bio-ethics and issues arising from claims from parapsychology.
